Something personal

If it seems like there are soooo many photographers out there these days it's because, well, there are. And yes, it is VERY easy to get lost in the comparison game. I have been photographing people for 4 years now and every single year I have come closer and closer to where I want to be as a photographer, and yet I still have so much to learn. And that is good, I think constant growth is key in every area of life! Photography, as an art, has changed so much in the last several years, you can get a nice digital camera without breaking the bank. And, you can break a lot of "rules" in photography now, artist expression is all the rage:-) Personally I have changed my outlook in the last few years to narrow in on exactly what kind of photography I enjoy. Senior's and fashion/personal photography is becoming my key interest, with a few family sessions thrown in the mix. I love these types of shoots, and am so excited about what the future will hold. I have started branching out, trying to get my name out there a little, which can be scary. You just never know what someone will think! I recently submitted a few photos to a blog all about senior photography called seniorologie and was contacted about having my concept shoot featured on the blog!! I was so excited! If you missed it you can see it here. It's encouraging to see others enjoying my work. I love what I do, and am enjoying every second of this year. As a self-taught photographer I have learned more this year than all years previous by searching out some great, free, online websites! Mini Session's - Summer 2012

I am really excited about the mini session day coming up! It's a great time to get those family photos taken, but I love working with individuals as well to create something awesome! Couldn't Get Any Better

This was an impromptu shoot with my little sis-in-law. We caught the sun at the perfect moment right before it went down:) Her eyes in these are just lovely. This is the type of photo I am in love with capturing. Thanks Nadia for being a willing model!!

My friend Molly

These photos are so much fun! Isn't Molly the cutest?! I have been able to photograph her the last couple winters when she's home visiting her mom and am so sad (but happy!!:-)) that she will be moving away indefinitely. Thanks for letting me capture you Molly!!
I am so excited about the new year and will be making a few changes in 2012:) Nothing too big!! I have spent the last several years trying to find my way in the world of photography and I can finally narrow down the type or style of my art. So to any of you budding photographers reading this, it is a process for sure! One that I am still learning from, to say the least!!

Inspiration

I am finally sharing the photos from my fashion shoot!!! I got busy after taking these and finally had time to put a few of the awesome ones together! After winter here in Minnesota my creative juices start to flow for alllll kinds of outdoor sessions. This year I looked for a model who would be willing to essentially play dress up :) It ended up being a close friend whom I think is gorgeous and my sis who is my models best-y came to do make-up, hair, AND help put together outfits! She was sooooo helpful in putting it all together. It was fun shooting photos I set up and designed, I will be doing this again! If you like playing dress up AND have your photo taken, I would love to here from you! I have a few ideas spinning around:)

A few words...

It's been a quiet couple weeks here :) My family and I went on a yearly camping trip last week and it was great to just relax! I am getting soooo excited about a project that I've been working on for a month or so, look for the photos from that in the next week or so! Also, I am really looking forward to the mini session day coming Sunday, July 31st! These photos were so fun to go through and edit, I love photographing people in the late evening while the sun is setting, it just makes the eyes sparkle!! This is a photographer friend of mine, Monika of monika rae photography! She is simply amazing and has such awesome talent. I was privileged to have a fun evening with her talking about all things photography related and was lucky to have her take some beautiful portraits of me!! Thanks again! Molly

This is my good friend Molly, and I was sooooo excited to take a few photos of her for upcoming endeavors in her life as an artist!! Yes, and she's awesome. She goes to art school right now in Wisconsin so we don't get to see her often but I'm lucky enough to have a friend who wants to stop by and say hi when she's in town and has some extra time:-) And yes, it was FREEZING the day we took these, isn't she gorgeous?!
