Show off those photos!!

In a world of digital photography it's so easy to forget to make prints of those beautiful memories from your portrait session!! I am going to share 4 of my favorite ways to display my photos, and I promise, they are pretty easy!

#1 & 2
Photobucket

#1. I enlarged my favorite photo from my session with my boys earlier in the summer and hung it in a key area in my house, you see the photo right when you walk into our living room. I am a fan of bigger prints, just because they make more of a statement in your home, and really show off your wonderful portrait.
#2. I made a collage of assorted frames in colors that matched my bedroom decor, and put a mix of black and white and color photos in them to give interest and detail above my dresser.

#3 & 4
Photobucket

#3. Above our bed I hung a very cohesive display of black frames with white matte to commemorate our engagement and wedding, with our kids photos. Every year I put a new photo in the kids frames as they get older, if you just leave the old photo in the frame when you put in the new one, by the time there 18 you'll have a photo to represent each year!! Kinda cool!

#4. Get a digital photo frame!! I LOVE mine and it is probably the best way to display all the pictures from your session for everyone to see. They are so easy to use, and since they have been on the market for several years now, its easy to get a nice inexpensive one. Lately I have had mine on a slideshow of my boys session.

See?! Easy! Make it fun, and enjoy your photos! I make it easy for you to print your photos wherever and whenever you like, with a copy write release to go with your sessions CD! E-mail me about booking a session and update your home with beautiful photos! Happy printing!!

Something personal

If it seems like there are soooo many photographers out there these days it's because, well, there are. And yes, it is VERY easy to get lost in the comparison game. I have been photographing people for 4 years now and every single year I have come closer and closer to where I want to be as a photographer, and yet I still have so much to learn. And that is good, I think constant growth is key in every area of life! Photography, as an art, has changed so much in the last several years, you can get a nice digital camera without breaking the bank. And, you can break a lot of "rules" in photography now, artist expression is all the rage:-) Personally I have changed my outlook in the last few years to narrow in on exactly what kind of photography I enjoy. Senior's and fashion/personal photography is becoming my key interest, with a few family sessions thrown in the mix. I love these types of shoots, and am so excited about what the future will hold. I have started branching out, trying to get my name out there a little, which can be scary. You just never know what someone will think! I recently submitted a few photos to a blog all about senior photography called seniorologie and was contacted about having my concept shoot featured on the blog!! I was so excited! If you missed it you can see it here. It's encouraging to see others enjoying my work. I love what I do, and am enjoying every second of this year. As a self-taught photographer I have learned more this year than all years previous by searching out some great, free, online websites! If you are a photographer just starting out and would like some great tools to turn to for futher learning here are my favorites!:
- Framed Network
- Professional Photographer
- Miller's Lab
- Michelle Moore
- Seniorologie

I wanted to share some of the concept shoot photos on my blog, because I haven't yet:-) and give a huge thank you to Michelle, my model, for being awesome and helping me with this project! If you missed her senior photos on the blog you can see those here! I am looking forward to a few more awesome concept shoots before the summer is over!

my memories

These are the long overdue 2 year photos of my youngest, Jacob. I also haven't had any of the boys together recently so I am beyond excited with how cute these are. Jake Jake is our little doll baby, he's a little peanut with a squeaky voice. While our oldest is our drama/serious kid, Jake is our goof. He is crazy, crazy cute, although you might not get that when you first meet him; he is shy.:-)Some of these photos remind me of Dewy at his two year mark, they are definatly bros.
If you like what you see, ask me about a more laid back session with your kiddos! Sometimes letting them just do what kids do can produce the best images, ones you'll want to look at again and again. daniellephotography@hotmail.com!

Too cool

It's been awhile since my last post, but it's been one thing after another lately! And in a good way, my hubby has a new job, we moved to a new home and all in about a month!! In the midst of these things my big boy turned 4. Not. Possible. I am glad I took the time to capture these photos outside our old place, he has lots of memories in that home:-) Duane (or Dewy, as we call him) is an amazing kid, everybody loves Dewy. The moment you meet him you'll get an earful about his latest interests, he talks to people of all ages with an ease I hope sticks with him. He is our Drama boy, and with his birthday money he bought himself a pair of binoculars. Yes, the stick in these photos turned into a guitar:) I love him.

I Heart

Because I haven't blogged anything or any photos of my babes of late; and it seems to be a theme in the blogging world to let people know why we do what we do, this is why I do:

Because you just never know when you'll get that picture/moment that makes your heart happy

Photobucket

Beacause there are so many quiet, simple things worth capturing

Photobucket

Because our days are filled with adventure and love, things we hope never fade

Photobucket

Because in life there are things worth laughing about, we should fill it up with more of it.

Our new best friend....

Halligan! Our new baby puppy, and our first dog together, pretty fun! We have been really lucky so far, this dog sleeps and we LOVE that! He's been going to bed around 11:00pm and wakes himself up to go out around 6:00am! Good puppy!! The kids are loving him, at least Duane is, our three year old. Jacob is a little more annoyed by him :-) Here are a few photos so far, I'm sure he will be photographed as much as my kids.... Just look at this face!

Currently I love....

I have been thinking of more personal blog posts so that you can get to know me a little better! Hopefully it will give anyone who has thought of booking a session with me a chance to learn a little about me so you don't feel I'm a total stranger when I meet you at your photo shoot:-)Maybe once a month I will try to post on current favorites of mine. I feel like if you know me better, maybe you'll already feel comfortable in front of my camera!

Photobucket

Top row:
My boys, they are a constant favorite of mine. I am seriously out-numbered, but I am a very active person so I enjoy the craziness. I love them.

A recent craft project(yes, I like 'crafts') fabric flowers. I found out they are super easy to make and they are adorable on headbands.... Now if I could just find some cute little girls to model them for me.....

Bottom row:
We have dreams here. I love my life:-)

My new wind chime, soooo relaxing. It reminds me of days at my grandparents house on the lake, and it's a windy day today so I've been enjoying it!

My new camera bag, it was my gift on Mother's Day!! I was in need of something more functional. Totally love it.

Spring, and all that goes with it! I am loving being outdoors with my family, jogging and going to the park, also swimming outside for the fist time this season yesterday! I am SO happy to get outside and take pictures again! Goodbye for now winter!

I made a cake...

...and it turned out so much better than I thought it would!! I made this adorable owl cake for my Jake Jake's 1st birthday party and believe me when I tell you I haven't made a cake yet that was this easy! So you bake the 2 cake mixes in 2 different sized pyrex bowls and then put the same sized ones together to make two cirles, body and head. Then frost, and because you want it to look like feathers you don't have to worry about getting the frosting super perfect, YES! I used halved Oreo's for the ears and eyes, along with Junior Mints for the eye balls. Bananna Runts make the beak and toes and mini chocolate chips for the belly. Ta Da!! Cute huh?!

Seriously if I could make this you can too(just sayin')... Thanks for reading! {Nel}
